Saif Ali Khan Stabbed During Robbery at Mumbai Home

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, 54, is in stable condition following a stabbing incident during an attempted robbery at his Mumbai home in the early hours of January 16, 2025. The attack occurred around 2:30 AM at his residence in the Bandra suburb, where an unidentified intruder confronted Khan. During the ensuing scuffle, Khan sustained multiple stab wounds, including injuries near his neck and spine.

Khan was promptly transported to Lilavati Hospital at approximately 3:30 AM. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, reported that Khan had six stab wounds, two of which were deep, with one located close to his spine. A surgical team, including neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, commenced surgery at 5:30 AM to address his injuries. Dr. Uttamani stated, “We will be able to tell the extent of the damage only after the surgery is done.”

Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children were present in the apartment during the incident but were unharmed. A female employee at their home was also attacked and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dikshit Gedam confirmed the incident, stating, “The actor and the intruder had a scuffle. The actor is injured and is being treated. Investigation is ongoing.” The assailant fled the scene following the attack, and Mumbai Police have launched an investigation, forming multiple teams to apprehend the perpetrator.

The incident has raised concerns about security in Mumbai, particularly in areas inhabited by high-profile individuals. Congress lawmaker Varsha Eknath Gaikwad expressed shock at the brazen attack, questioning the safety of citizens in the city. She stated, “If such high-profile people with security can be attacked in their homes, what could happen to common citizens?”

Khan, son of former India cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore, has featured in over 70 films and television series. He was last seen in ‘Devara Part 1’, released in September 2024, and is set to appear in the upcoming heist thriller ‘Jewel Thief – The Red Sun Chapter’.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
